What’s The Right Price For PSD to HTML Conversion?

Written by admin on July 6, 2009

right_priceIn the previous article “16 Good Questions to Ask before hiring PSD to HTML provider” we talked about all the questions to be asked  while selecting a service provider. Now the next step in the process is to determine how much one should pay for the job and this is what we are going to discuss in this article.

In today’s economic condition, everyone is operating under limited budget. Many design agencies, designers and developers have outsourced their XHTML & CSS coding work primarily as a “cost-saving measure”. There are 200+ companies providing PSD to HTML conversion service these days. Unlike other services in web design and development, it is selling like a hot commodity. In fact, there is a dedicated website www.psdtohtmlcompanies.com which compares PSD to HTML companies and can assist you in finding the right provider as per your need and budget.

Factors affecting the conversion price:

There are many aspects, which determine the overall price of the code. Some of them are:
- Design complexity
- Turnaround time
- Feature set including browser compatibility, OS compatibility, w3c standard compliance, markup language and many more.

Choose the complete package
If you are looking for a quality code, it must have the following:

- w3c validated code
- Compatible with all major browsers including IE, FF, and Safari
- Compatible with all major OS including Windows, Mac and Linux
- Code must be hand coded
- Acceptable turnaround time

The Advantages of hiring an external company to code your design:

- Better and faster results. They are more focused on validation, accessibility and standards. Dedicated team results in quick turnaround.
- Variety of Options. Generally all providers offer a wide range of options
- Time Saving. Provider checks and makes changes to the code to make it compatible with all given browsers and OS combinations.
- Skilled Resources. Having worked in the same field over a period of time, they have mastered this art and possess great skills. They have better process and tools to accomplish the task.

If you don’t know which company should you hire or how much to pay, then I suggest you to visit www.psdtohtmlcompanies.com. They have a huge database of markup coders and you can refine & compare the data. The best part is you don’t have to fill different forms for different companies. There is only one form and you can send inquires to up to 10 providers.

This is nice. I’ve been thinking about offering PSD slicing services, but as you pointed out, unless you do it often your work flow won’t be as efficient as an experienced team or individual dedicated to one task.

Its a risky business to give your PSDs to some one else & get its HTML done, especially when your website is based on AJAX. Ajax based websites requires some special/crucial markup (Arrangement of Div structure), which a PSD TO HTML programmer can not envision. Simple static website & for blogs its ok. But for large scale Database Applications, the Hierarchy of markup is one thing you need to give a real deep thought.

    Suraj,

PSD to HTML has become a specialized field and the people working in this industry are highly trained with years of experience. I believe that they are, most of the times, better equipped to handle these tasks with all tips and tricks up their sleeve.

Having said that, it is advisable to do a thorough research and review programmer’s past work and references before awarding the project.

    Ezrad,

To start with, you can include your company details on various website listing PSD to HTML providers. Besides, we also have introduced one such service at PSDtoHTMLCompanies.com.
You may add your company details here as well.

If to speak about prices then it would be very interesting to keep track of trends: seasonal variations, general movements, etc., as well as to analyze the current market situation: typical values and so on. Is psdtohtmlcompanies.com planning to provide some analytics in the future?

Price is an important but not the only factor for going in for such a service. Choosing a service provider is based on various options and thus one needs to factor in reliability, speed and complexity while considering going for any provider. Nice that people are thinking in that direction

    PSD Convert

To make things 2.0 simple. To have an American professional do it the rates should start at around $120 per conversion.

    @Sandeep:

Judging by your website I’m not surprised you charge as little as you do. Price is not the only factor in selecting a service and theres a real reason some people bill $100 a page.

This is true, some designs may have design complexity, so we should quote according to that.

We think that $40 is a lowest price for an exellent quality. If the price is lower you will not get a high-quality hand code.

    Creative Nuts +5 We agree.

I will charge between US $25 to US $65 for homepage, 50% discount for each inner page.

If the home page need any AJAX, JavaScript effects prices vary. Similarly any contact us, search or database coding, charges will be extra.
